Coast of Maine

Join us on a spectacular six-day journey along the scenic coast of America’s easternmost state! Traveling along Route 1, we will hug the shoreline of the Atlantic Ocean from Kittery all the way to Bar Harbor, and delight in the picturesque towns that dot the landscape of Vacationland. As the Mainers say, this trip is going to be “the way life should be.”

Itinerary
On Day One we will spend our time in York and Wells, enjoying the famous Stonewall Kitchen, visiting the most photographed lighthouse in New England, strolling among the shops of a charming Main Street, and having dinner at a legendary Maine steakhouse.

On Day Two we will explore three of Maine’s most popular towns – Kennebunkport, Old Orchard Beach, and Portland. Our day will begin with breakfast at the Maine Diner and Gift Shop, where you will savor “world famous food like grandma used to make”. From there, we will take a leisurely drive along Ocean Ave in Kennebunkport, stopping at Walkers Point to take in views of the family compound of our 41st and 43rd presidents. Later, we will head to the beloved pier at Old Orchard Beach. By late afternoon, we will arrive at our hotel on splendid Commercial St on the waterfront of Portland, and once settled, you will enjoy an evening of free time in Maine’s most populous city.

On Day Three we are off to Freeport, Wiscasset, and Rockland. We will begin the day at L.L. Bean, Maine’s most famous store. Then we will be on to the Maine Tasting Center where you will partake in a delightful food experience called “Flavors of Maine.” In the afternoon, we will visit the gorgeous Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, and then we will end the day at a picture perfect lobster shack in a postcard setting along Maine’s rocky coast.

Day Four will be all about dazzling Bar Harbor. On our way to the mosaic of natural wonders known as Acadia National Park, we will drive along the coast through the lovely towns of Rockport and Camden. By mid-morning, we will be taking a breathtaking drive through the Schoodic Peninsula, and by afternoon, we will be winding our way along the Park Loop Rd stopping at the most photogenic sights in Acadia. As evening approaches, we will be sitting on the top of magnificent Cadillac Mountain taking in commanding views in every direction. Once we get settled into our hotel in Bar Harbor, everyone will enjoy an evening of free time in this wonderful town filled with restaurants, shops, and attractions.

On Day Five we will begin to head south again, and as we do the day is going to feature two more fantastic towns – Boothbay Harbor and Ogunquit. The highlight of our time in Boothbay Harbor is the clambake we will enjoy together on a family’s private island! Then we are going to cap off our last full day in Maine by going to see Guys and Dolls at the Ogunquit Playhouse!

On Day Six, we will make one final stop before we head home after breakfast – the popular Kittery Trading Post.
